Unblocking images for a single email

To unlock images in a single message that comes from a trusted source,

  1. Select the InfoBar at the top of the message.
  2. Click Download Pictures.

  • If you preview a message and click Download Pictures, then the image is saved automatically and displayed the next time you open the message.
  • If you click Download Pictures in an open message, you must first save the message to view the pictures the next time you open it.

Unblocking images for all messages

  • In Outlook 2016, 13, and 10:
  1. Click File tab > Options > Trust Center.
  2. Click Microsoft Outlook Trust Center Settings > Trust Center Settings

  • In Outlook 2007:
  1. Click Tools menu > Trust Center > Automatic Download.
  2. Disable the Don't download pictures automatically in HTML e-mail messages or RSS items checkbox.

Unblocking images from trusted senders or domains

You can mark known senders or domains as Safe Senders to unblock images sent by them.

  1. Open a message received from a known sender or domain.
  2. Do a right-click on a blocked image.
  3. Select one of the following options:
    • Add Sender to Safe Senders List
    • Add the Domain @domain to Safe Senders List

Other ways

Sometimes Outlook does not show images even though all the configurations are correct. In such situations, you can do the following:

  • Clear the Temp folder
  • Use a valid Temp folder path
  • Repair PST file if corrupt
  • Forward your email to check if the images appear in the forwarded email
  • Disable firewalls and anti-malware
  • Try switching to a different network
