Why CNAME records instead of SPF and DKIM?

SPF has a limitation of 10 DNS querying mechanisms. Most commonly, people run into this “too many DNS lookups” error due to a lot of include mechanisms in their domain SPF record.

For Example, If your domain is having google and outlook SPF record along with Vtiger.

Google SPF record will take 4 out of 10 DNS query mechanisms with (
Outlook will take 3 with (
Vtiger will take 4 with (

All together it summed up to (4+3+4 =11) and the limit of 10 is exceeded and the result of this query will end up with too many DNS lookups, Also the SPF check will fail with Permanent error. In the end emails may not reach your intended recipients.

To fix SPF Identifier Alignment for DMARC.

Vtiger email campaigns uses “” as the “Return path” domain to collect the bounce messages, This address is used to parse the bounce messages and display the bounce rate in your email campaign. During the DMARC check, this “Return path” domain will not match with sender From email address domain, so SPF alignment will fail. To fix this issue you to have Add CNAME records.
