Please ensure the following items before you import a file:
- Always use CSV or VCF (for contacts), depending on the module.
- Verify that the file is UTF-8 encoded to prevent unexpected characters (especially for names with accents or special symbols).
- Make sure column headers are on the first row.
- The size of the local file that you are importing must not exceed 50 MB.
- Ensure that each column in your file is correctly mapped to a Vtiger field during the import process. Especially the mandatory fields.
- Avoid duplicate or mismatched field names—stick to clear, unique headers.
- Remove extra spaces, commas, or hidden characters in your CSV.
- Confirm you have Import permission for that module in your role/profile.
- If you don’t see the Import option, ask the CRM admin to enable it.
- Ensure picklist values in your file match exactly with the ones in Vtiger (case-sensitive)
- For lookup fields (such as linking a Contact to an Account), ensure the referenced record already exists in Vtiger.
- After import, check the error file download link. It lists the rows that failed and provides the reason (missing fields, invalid format, duplicates, etc.).
