What is two-factor authentication (2FA) and how does it work?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security process that adds an extra layer of protection to your account. Instead of relying only on your password, 2FA requires a second verification step — usually a temporary code sent to your phone, email, or generated by an authenticator app.

This ensures that even if someone knows your password, they cannot access your account without the second verification factor.

In Vtiger CRM, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to user logins. After entering your username and password, Vtiger sends a one-time verification code to your registered email address. You must enter this code on the login screen to complete the sign‑in process.
  • 2FA is enabled by the administrator from Settings > Users > Authentication.
  • Once enabled, every login requires the code sent to your email.
