How can I install the Open Source version?
Ans. The following are the prerequisites for installing Open Source in Vtiger CRM:
Prerequisites:
- Apache 2.1+
- MySQL 5.1+
- storage_engine = InnoDB
- local_infile = ON (under [mysqld] section)
- sql_mode = empty (or NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION) for MySQL 5.6
- PHP 5.2+, 7.0+
- php-imap
- php-curl
- php-xml
- memory_limit (min. 256MB)
- max_execution_time (min. 60 seconds)
- error_reporting (E_ERROR & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_STRICT & ~E_DEPRECATED)
- display_errors = OFF
- short_open_tag = OFF
- Hardware: 4 GB RAM, 250 GB Disk (for file attachments)
Follow the steps to install Open Source in Vtiger CRM:
Once installed, the Vtiger page opens.- Configure your LAMP, WAMP, and MAMP setup.
- Extract the files from the Vtiger CRM zip folder.
- Move it to the web folder or document root directory of your website. Ensure that the Apache process owner has write access to the web folder.
- Visit http://yourserver.tld/index.php. The local host opens. A Vtiger Installation Wizard opens.
- Click Install.
- Click I agree to agree to Vtiger License's terms and conditions.
- Click Next. Are you sure you want to proceed message appears.
- Click OK. A System Configuration window opens.
- Enter or select the following Database information:
- Host Name: Enter the host name.
- User Name: Enter the Database name.
- Enable Create new Database
- Enter Root Username.
- Enter the Root password.
- Enter or select the Admin User Information:
- UserName: Enter the UserName.
- Password: Enter the Password.
- Retype Password: Retype the Password.
- First Name: Enter the First Name.
- Last Name: Enter the Last Name.
- Email: Enter the Email.
- Click Next. A Confirm Configuration Settings window opens.
- Click Next. A One Last Thing window opens.
- Name: Enter your Name.
- Email: Enter your Email.
- Click Next. An Installation in progress appears.

How can I use the Phone Calls module in Open Source?Does Open Source support Print templates?
Ans. Yes, it is supported. Vtiger Open Source supports Print Templates. It is not available by default, and you have to install it by Vtiger Marketplace.

How do I set up the Mail Manager in Open Source?
Ans. Follow these steps to set up Mail Manager in Open Source:
- Log in to the Vtiger Open Source.
- Click Main Menu.
- Go to Mail Manager.
- Click Configure Mailbox. A Create Mailbox window opens.
- Enter or select the following information:
- Select Account: Select the account from the drop-down.
- Mail server name or IP: Enter imap.gmail.com as the server name.
- Username: Enter the Username
- Password: Enter a password(follow the steps below to get a password):
- Go to your Google account
- Navigate to security
- Go to 2-step verification (it is mandatory). Scroll to the bottom of the screen. You will find the App password.
- Copy the App password. (Paste it in the password field - Step-5d).
- Click Save.
Why should I set up the Outgoing server?
Ans. You must set up the Outgoing server to send mail via the CRM.
How do I set up the Outgoing server?
Ans. Follow these steps to set up the Outgoing server:
- Log in to the Vtiger Open Source instance.
- Click Main Menu.
- Go to Settings.
- Click Configuration.
- Click Outgoing server.
- Click Outgoing Server.
- Click Edit.
- Enter or select the following:
- Server Type: Gmail
- Server Name: ssl://smtp.gmail.com:465
- Username: Your Gmail ID
- To get the password, please follow the below steps:
- Go to your Google account
- Navigate to security
- Go to 2-step verification (it is mandatory). Scroll to the bottom of the screen. You will find the App password.
- To get the password, please follow the below steps:
- Password: Paste the App password.
- Email: Enter your From Email address.
- Enable the checkbox for Requires Authentication.
- Click Save.

Ans. Follow these steps to configure the Customer Portal:
- Log in to Vtiger Open Source.
- Go to Projects.
- Click Customer Portal.
- Select the customer portal file from here.

- Copy the file to the root directory of the source file.
- Create the config.php file.
- Add crm.url as a source.
- Add portal.url as a customer portal.
- Configure the php file with the URL.
- Create a Contact with an Email ID field.
- Enable the Portal User.
