Introduction

Vtiger CRM helps you map custom fields of Deals to Projects. So when you convert a deal to a project,
- the CRM will consider the field mapping, and
- transfers the field values in Deals to the selected target fields in Projects.
Benefits of mapping:
- Your data is not lost.
- You can avoid manual entry of field values.
Default Mapping
To take some burden off your shoulders, CRM maps the following fields in Deals automatically to Project’s fields by default.

Custom Mapping
You are now aware that a set of fields are mapped by default in the CRM. If you wish to map other fields of your choice, continue reading this section.
Follow these steps to do a custom mapping:
- Sign in to your account.
- Click the User Menu on the top right corner of the screen.
- Click the Settings button.
- Go to the Marketing & Sales section.
- Click Deal to Project Mapping.
- Click the Edit icon on the right.
- Click the +Add Mapping button. Consequently, you will be adding a new set of fields (placeholders) to aid with the mapping of custom fields.
- Select the source field and map it to the target field accordingly.
- Click Save.
- Click Cancel if you want to discard the changes.
- Type PROCEED and click the Proceed button.
The fields will be mapped and added to the list of other fields.

Modifying the Mapping
Vtiger CRM provides you the flexibility to modify a mapping that you have defined.
Follow these steps modify a mapping:
- Sign in to your account.
- Click the User Menu on the top right corner of the screen.
- Click the Settings button.
- Go to the Marketing & Sales section.
- Click Deal to Project Mapping.
- Click the Edit icon.
- Change the source and the target field accordingly.
- Click Save.
- Click Cancel if you want to discard the changes.
- Type PROCEED and click the Proceed button.
